The key to a stunning smile is this: healthy teeth are beautiful teeth!
The crowns are the portions of your teeth that are visible above the gum line – the part that you use for biting, chewing and grinding. Dental crowns, from a reconstructive perspective, are ceramic restorations used to repair teeth that have sustained significant damage or decay. While the roots of these teeth are still healthy, a large portion of the crown has had to be removed or is broken and therefore requires replacement.
What are Dental Crowns?
Crowns or caps are fabricated from strong and durable ceramic materials that mimic the optical properties of real dental enamel. Once they have been placed, your restored tooth will look and function just like it used to before it was badly damaged or decayed. Better still, this ceramic material is far more resistant to staining than your natural enamel, so your teeth will continue to look beautiful for much longer.”

The Benefits of Dental Bridges
Aside from the fact that bridges offer patients a cosmetic and functional solution to missing teeth, they also provide some significant health benefits. An exposed tooth socket provides an excellent breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to a painful infection and the possible loss of the adjacent natural teeth. Gaps allow these neighboring teeth to become unstable and drift, causing structural problems for the entire row of teeth.
An open tooth socket is also quite difficult to keep clean, since it tends to be quite sensitive and painful and this can lead to the compromise of good oral health and hygiene. This is not to mention the obvious problems associated with missing teeth, including diminished smile aesthetics and compromised bite function. Dental bridges can address all of these problems.
What are Dental Bridges and How Do They Work?
In the case of a single tooth replacement, dental bridges consist of three successive ceramic tooth crowns that have been fused together. The two outer crowns provide support for the middle crown, which is suspended between them much like a bridge (hence the name). The two natural teeth adjacent to the gap are prepared to accommodate the restoration and once it has been fitted, all three will resemble healthy natural teeth.
Multiple Tooth Replacement
In the case of multiple missing teeth, a partial bridge may be used. This appliance is attached to the neighboring natural teeth using metal clasps. While this subset of bridge provides a workable and aesthetic solution to missing teeth in the short term, experienced dentists do prefer to recommend dental implants for their superior function, lifespan and negligible impact upon the health of your remaining natural teeth.
The foods and beverages we consume naturally contain chemicals and tannins that slowly seep into our dental enamel, leaving it stained and discolored. This is especially evident after drinking coffee, tea, or red wine. But over time, these stains can become permanent. When they do, no amount of brushing or flossing can remove them at which stage you may want to consider a teeth whitening treatment.
About Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a very simple, straightforward and painless treatment that will totally improve the appearance of your smile. Even a little tooth discoloration can have a remarkable effect upon smile quality and therefore, your self-esteem. If you’re interested in putting the glint back into your grin, speak to one of our teeth whitening specialists the next time you come in for a routine check-up.
How Does it Work?
The teeth whitening methods we use at Prestige Dental Centers involve the use of a special bleaching gel and a mouth tray. We will custom design for you a mouth tray from impressions of your teeth. Once this has been prepared in our laboratory, you will return to our office and we will check the fit and explain how to use them. You will then begin your treatment in the comfort of your own home.
The results will become more and more apparent with each application and when your teeth have reached the desired level of brightness, you can cease treatment. It is advised that you keep up a maintenance program by wearing your tray with the bleaching gel every so often. Again, Dr. Sterling Rogers or Dr. Michael Bull will explain this to you during your consultation.
Why Opt for Professional Teeth Whitening?
The whitening products prescribed to patients in dental offices are far more effective than those you buy over the counter at a pharmacy or supermarket. This is because the former contains a greater concentration of whitening agent and so, by law, cannot be sold without the recommendation of a qualified and experienced dentist. If your teeth are visibly stained and discolored, you are going to get the best results from an in-house professional teeth whitening treatment.
Porcelain veneers are an excellent cosmetic treatment for our patients in Colorado Springs or Pueblo whose teeth have structural flaws, such as cracks and chips, and/or are too discolored and stained for dental whitening to yield satisfactory results. They can be applied to the outer surface of only one particularly damaged tooth or all of them, giving patients a complete and beautiful makeover that will have them smiling with complete confidence.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
“Veneers are ultra-thin coverings or ‘shells’ made from durable ceramic material,” explain dental veneers specialists in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. “They are custom made to fit snugly over the outer surface of your tooth or teeth, effectively covering evidence of staining and discoloration. They also cover and fill in the portions of the tooth structure that has been removed or become damaged.”
Dental Veneers Can Be Recommended for the Following Problems:
- Cracked or chipped teeth,
- Teeth that are deeply stained and discolored,
- Teeth with large gaps between them.
What is the Procedure Involved?
During your initial consultation, molds will be taken of your teeth to aid in the custom fabrication of your porcelain veneers. Once these are ready, you can return to Prestige Dental Centers to have them placed by one of our expert doctors. This will begin by the removal of a very thin layer of your dental enamel to provide space for the veneer.
A strong dental cement will be applied to the surface of your tooth and the restoration mounted. A special light is placed over the fresh veneer to harden the cement, permanently locking the restoration in place. Your bite will be checked for comfort and fit and once you and the dentist are happy, you’ll be free to admire your new smile in the mirror!
Porcelain veneers are made from exceptionally durable materials, so you will be able to enjoy all your usual foods. Also take care to brush and floss regularly and thoroughly and return to our office for frequent check-ups and professional cleanings!
