Dental implants are extremely versatile in their applications and in the variety of cases for which they can provide comprehensive solutions. Regardless of the cause of tooth loss – whether it is tooth decay, gum disease, physical trauma, a failed root canal or illness – dental implants are very likely right for you.

Am I a candidate for Dental Implants?

There are only a few specific cases for which dental implant surgery is not advised and these usually involve the advanced risk of complications. Rare bone disorders, bleeding disorders, heart disease, respiratory disease and advanced bone loss in the jaw may require additional precautions or procedures for our dental implant team to undertake before considering surgery.

If, however, you are in extremely poor health, or it might be too risky for surgery to be an option, our doctors will consult with your treating physician to confirm details of your general health.

Cases Involving Advanced Bone Loss

People who have gone without teeth or have worn removable dentures for many years might also have lost too much bone volume in the jaw for dental implants to be considered a viable treatment option. Having said that, the mini dental implant protocol has been designed specifically to overcome this problem through the strategic alignment and positioning of the implants. If this is still insufficient, you can undergo bone grafting to augment your jaw, making it possible for implants to be placed. Our dental implant doctors will advise you accordingly.

Dental Implants are Right for you if…

You have lost one or more or all of your natural teeth and are in good general health and passable oral health. Obviously, if you suffer from aggressive gum disease, we will need to treat you before we can proceed with oral rehabilitation. You wouldn’t want to get new teeth only to lose them a few weeks later because of gum disease!

At the end of the day, there are very few cases for which dental implants cannot be used to provide a comprehensive and lasting teeth replacement solution. At Prestige Dental Centers, we have replaced teeth in patients as young as 16 and as old as 101. If you’re in good health, dental implants can be right for you!

About Dental Implants Costs

dental implants women

Owing to the time, skill and resources that go into the manufacturing and surgical placement of dental implants, they do tend to be a little more than traditional methods of teeth replacement. The great thing about dental implants is that they can last several decades and even a lifetime if you look after them properly, whereas conventional teeth replacement technologies only last a few years to a decade. After this, patients are forced to have them repaired or even replaced entirely. The cost of maintenance, repair and replacement can really add up over the years until you’re looking at accumulative dental bills that could have financed implants from the word go!

Dental implants are the smartest investment you can make in your oral health, smile confidence and quality of life!

What Determines Dental Implants Costs?

all on 4 dental implants

The dental cost we present you with before we embark upon treatment of any kind is determined by the details of the treatment or procedure you need, our time, the quality of the materials we use to restore your oral health and our experience in undertaking said treatment. The number of teeth you require to be replaced and the complexity of treatment also determine the teeth implants cost. We will communicate the details of your procedure with you prior to treatment, so you need not worry about any surprises.

Additionally, we work closely with Dental Insurance Companies (Delta Dental Premier©) and Dental Financing Institutions (CareCredit™) to help our patients easily and comfortably cover their dental implants costs.

That’s right! If you have lost one or more of your natural teeth and are interested in getting dental implants placed, we offer first time patients a complimentary consultation. This includes a comprehensive oral examination, X-rays and treatment planning with no obligation to actually proceed.

If you’re looking at getting a set of new teeth here at the Prestige Dental Implant Centers at Colorado Springs or Pueblo, you’re probably going to have a couple of questions! To satiate your curiosity, calm your nerves and help you understand what is involved in getting a new, beautiful smile, here is a FAQ Guide on All on 4 Dental Implants.

FAQ: What is the All-On-4?

Answer: The All on 4 is a dental implant procedure to give patients who have lost most or all of their original adult teeth, or who suffer with a failing dentition, a brand new set of fixed, non-removable teeth. This procedure was pioneered by European implantologist Dr. Paulo Malo in the early 1990’s and has since gone on to provide comprehensive teeth replacement solutions to tens of thousands of Americans and countless more worldwide.

FAQ: How does the All-On-4 work?

Answer: The “All on 4” entails the placement of four dental implants in the jaw requiring teeth (upper and/or lower). A customized dental prosthesis, which looks like a complete set of teeth, is then permanently attached to these dental implants, giving patients new teeth that are virtually indistinguishable in function and appearance from healthy natural pearly whites.

FAQ: What is the procedure involved in getting new teeth?

Answer:Getting new teeth with the All on 4 is typically a simple and straightforward process. You will come in to the Prestige Dental Implant Center for a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced implant dentists, Dr. Sterling Rogers or Dr. Michael Bull. Once your unique case has been thoroughly assessed and X-rays taken and if you are determined a candidate for the All on 4, which is almost always the case, a date for treatment will be set.

The procedure itself consists of three phases. First, you will be gently sedated and/or anesthetized and all your remaining failing and decayed teeth painlessly extracted. Dr. Rogers or Dr. Bull will then begin the surgical placement of your dental implants: two in the anterior (front) part of the jaw and two in the posterior (back) part of the jaw. This is all performed under anesthetic, so you need not worry about experiencing any pain or discomfort. In fact, you’ll “wake-up” with everything already completed!

Once the dental implants have been placed and your gums sutured up, our dentist will attach a temporary dental bridge (complete set of artificial teeth) to the top of the implants. This bridge will have been previously fabricated from molds of your jaw and so is customized to sit comfortably in your mouth. This bridge will enable you to eat and smile comfortably and with confidence until the implants have integrated with your jaw. Once healing is complete, your temporary bridge will be removed and replaced with a stronger, permanent one during a follow-up appointment.

You will typically be required to come back to our offices for two to three follow-up appointments in the weeks/months following your surgery. This is to ensure that you are healing successfully and that you are getting the most (functionally and aesthetically) out of your new, beautiful teeth. These follow-up consultations will be included in the overall quotation for the All on 4 procedure.

FAQ: Who is a good candidate for All-On-4 dental implants?

Answer: One of the many benefits of the All on 4 is that almost everyone is a candidate! Previously, traditional dental implant protocols were only able to make candidates out of patients who presented with sufficient jawbone volume. Since tooth loss causes the jaw to atrophy and waste away, it was frequently the case that patients would require bone grafting before they could receive dental implants. The All on 4 bypasses the need for this additional, costly and painful procedure via the precise and strategic placement of dental implants, which are then used to provide fixed support for a new set of teeth. Because of this and because of the advanced state of dental surgery and diagnostic equipment, nearly 100% of patients can be considered a candidate for All on 4 dental implants.

A good candidate would be someone who hasn’t been without teeth for too many years and so presents with a healthy volume of bone in the jaw. Certain medical conditions and illnesses may compromise a patient’s candidacy. Dr. Sterling Rogers and Dr. Michael Bull will discuss this in full with you should this be a potential problem.

FAQ: Why are All-On-4 dental implants the preferred choice of Silver Spring dentists?

Answer: The All on 4 offers a handsome suite of benefits over traditional dental implant protocols and teeth replacement technologies, such as removable dentures. In terms of living with new teeth and the quality of life patients can expect to enjoy, there simply is no better alternative. Dental implants offer patients a fixed solution to missing teeth and one that is as close to having natural teeth as a patient can get. They’re comfortable, look natural, feel like regular teeth and can be used to eat all your favorite foods. Implants also support the long-term health of the jaw bone, preventing premature aging and the deterioration of bite function.

FAQ: What benefits can I expect from my new teeth?

Answer: If you’ve ditched the dentures in favor of All on 4 dental implant supported teeth, here are the amazing benefits and advantages you can look forward to:

  • Teeth that are fixed and stable in the mouth.

They won’t move around when eating and speaking and they cannot accidentally fall out!
  • Teeth that feel comfortable and natural.

The All on 4 bridge supported by your implants isn’t bulky and won’t rub against and irritate the soft tissues in your mouth like dentures tend to. Problems such as a triggered gag reflex, oral sores and gum inflammation should become a thing of the past!
  • Teeth that you can eat most foods with.

The use of dental implants to stabilize the bridge in your mouth enables patients to manage a varied diet full of their favorite foods, from corn on the cob to juicy steak. Never again will your replacement teeth dictate what you choose from the menu!
  • Teeth that don’t require periodic refitting.

Dentures initially require refitting and replacement every few years, but more frequently the longer a patient wears them for. This comes down to the changing shape of the jawbone as atrophy claims more and more healthy bone volume. Since dental implants keep bone tissue healthy, you won’t need to have your new teeth refitted or replaced, saving you the discomfort of ill-fitting teeth and the expense of replacing them!
  • Teeth you can taste your food with!

Dentures rely on their bulk to remain stabilized in the mouth. Because of this, they can cover the palate, impeding your ability to taste your food properly and sense different temperatures and textures. The All on 4 bridge is much slimmer in construction, enabling patients to fully experience and enjoy their food.
  • Teeth that don’t come with repeat expenses.

Forget the need to pop down to your local pharmacy every week for anesthetic ointments, adhesive strips, cleaning agents and soaking solution for your dentures. Your new All on 4 teeth function and are cared for just like regular teeth, negating the need for all these additional repeat expenses. This saves patients thousands of dollars in the long run.
  • Teeth that can last you a lifetime.

If you maintain a good home oral hygiene routine and go for regularly scheduled appointments with your dentist, there’s no reason your new teeth cannot last you a lifetime! This makes All on 4 dental implants the most cost effective teeth replacement solutions available.

FAQ: Does it hurt to get new implant teeth placed?

Answer: Here at the Prestige Dental Implant Center, we make it a priority to keep patients completely pain, discomfort and anxiety-free. As such, we offer sedation dentistry, which, depending upon the unique case, can be administered accordingly to keep patients calm, happy and comfortable. It is very normal for patients to experience some localized discomfort and sensitivity after having their new teeth placed – this is just the nature of surgery. However, we will send you home with some prescription painkillers, which can be taken to keep you comfortable. Most patients only take their painkillers for one or two days after the procedure and report feeling totally fine after.

benefits of dental implants

Dental implants are regarded by healthcare professionals around the world to be the most sophisticated and long-lasting solution to single and multiple missing teeth.

  • Dental implants support ceramic crowns or prosthetic bridges that are expertly fabricated to look just like a natural tooth or set of teeth.
  • Dental implants are rooted in the jaw bone, like natural teeth, which enables them to maintain a similar bite strength and function.
  • With implants, you can enjoy all your favorite foods without discomfort and without worrying about breaking your new teeth!
  • Dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime if you remain in good oral and general health and look after your replacement teeth properly.
  • Dental implants are typically a one-time investment, as opposed to removable dentures, which require refitting every few years or so.
  • Dental implants support the health of the underlying jawbone, which keeps your neighboring teeth healthy and prevents premature aging.
  • Unlike conventional bridges and dentures, dental implants feel natural and comfortable, helping you to eat and speak without self-consciousness.
  • Dental implants promote confidence and self-esteem through a beautiful smile!

The “All on 4” is a breakthrough Dental Implant protocol that was introduced to the market in the early 1990’s. This was the first procedure of its kind to address teeth replacement in patients who had lost most, if not all, of their original adult teeth. While there are alternative dental implant protocols around, “All on 4” implants completely changed the approach dental specialists took to treating edentulous and near-edentulous patients. How? Because it is almost always able to give patients new teeth in one day, with only four dental implants, a single surgery and without the need for bone grafting surgery.

Here’s how this revolutionary procedure works.

All-on-4 Dental Implants: The Procedure

The “All on 4” configuration of dental implants is shown on the left, and is used to support a uniquely customized prosthetic dental bridge. This bridge is the only component that is visible above the gum line, giving patients a natural, beautiful and confident smile.

Two implants are inserted in the jaw towards the back of the mouth, usually in the region of the second and third molars. These two implants are placed at a very precise angle so as to avoid damaging any vital structures in the mouth, including the upper jaw sinus cavity and the lower jaw’s nerve canal. This angulation also enables the implants to benefit from as much support from the existing bone volume as possible.

Another two implants are inserted in the jaw in the front of the mouth, in the region of the chin, where the bone is naturally more bulky and resistant to atrophy caused by tooth loss. Altogether, these four implants can be used to provide a dental bridge with a fixed, secure and stable foundation, enabling patients to use their new teeth as they would their natural teeth.

Why Is It Important that All On 4 Implants Avoid Bone Grafting?

Dental implants function just like natural tooth roots and so, if there isn’t sufficient bone volume in the jaw, they will just become loose and fall out. The popular solution to bone loss, which is caused by being toothless for a long period of time, used to be bone grafting. This procedure, however, not only represents an additional hefty sum of money, it’s also by its very nature invasive, painful and requires several months of healing.

Through the strategic placement and angulation of only four dental implants, the All On Four is almost always able to avoid the need for bone grafting, which makes oral rehabilitation far simpler, quicker, less traumatic and far less costly! This triumph in the field of implantology essentially makes it possible for our doctors to give patients new teeth in one day!

Dental Implants for the Denture Wearer | Eat what you want

denture wearers eat whatever they want

For centuries traditional removable dentures have been used to provide toothless and near toothless patients with replacement teeth. While the techniques and materials used in their manufacturing have advanced over the years, their basic operational concept hasn’t. Dentures are bulky teeth replacement appliances that are designed to rest on the gums and over the soft palate. Because they aren’t fixed in the mouth, they come with a long list of challenges and disadvantages.

This is why our experienced team of doctors discourage patients from just choosing traditional removable dentures. So, what are the alternatives? There are plenty!

You have plenty of options!

Nowadays, there are many teeth replacement options available for patients who have lost most, if not all of their natural teeth or who suffer with a failing dentition due to advanced gum disease. These options involve the attachment of a denture or prosthetic bridge to dental implants, providing the teeth replacement appliance with a fixed and permanent foundation. This prevents patients from having to struggle with the following problems:

  • Teeth that are loose and move around,
  • Teeth that rub against the gums, causing inflammation, discomfort and the development of painful oral sores,
  • Teeth that need to be removed for cleaning after meals and at nighttime,
  • Teeth that feel uncomfortable and loose,
  • Bulky dentures that rub against the soft palate, causing patients to gag,
  • Bulky dentures that impede one’s ability to taste their food properly and sense nuances in its temperature and texture.

Through the strategic placement of dental implants, enough support can be provided for a set of replacement teeth that can either be clipped into place by the patient or are permanently supported in the mouth. This eliminates many of the daily challenges typically experienced by denture wearers. Additionally, dental implants help to maintain the health of the underlying jawbone, preventing the natural shrinkage that occurs when teeth are removed from the jaw and subsequent problems such as further tooth loss, bite strength deterioration and premature aging.

Even if your dentist has told you that you are not a candidate for dental implants, there are solutions available and together we will work towards one that fits your needs and your budget.  Our dentists have placed thousands of dental implants and their skill and experience make the difference patients love.
