“Dentures can be painful if they don’t fit right; that’s why that idea persists. But there are a couple of things we can do to make sure they don’t hurt,” says Dr. Michael Bull. One of the most important things to do is to make sure dentures fit properly by getting a reline done at least every two years, which reshapes the underside of the dentures and makes it more comfortable against the gums. This will help patients avoid pain and potential bone damage.
