Porcelain veneers are an excellent cosmetic treatment for our patients in Colorado Springs or Pueblo whose teeth have structural flaws, such as cracks and chips, and/or are too discolored and stained for dental whitening to yield satisfactory results. They can be applied to the outer surface of only one particularly damaged tooth or all of them, giving patients a complete and beautiful makeover that will have them smiling with complete confidence.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
“Veneers are ultra-thin coverings or ‘shells’ made from durable ceramic material,” explain dental veneers specialists in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. “They are custom made to fit snugly over the outer surface of your tooth or teeth, effectively covering evidence of staining and discoloration. They also cover and fill in the portions of the tooth structure that has been removed or become damaged.”
Dental Veneers Can Be Recommended for the Following Problems:
- Cracked or chipped teeth,
- Teeth that are deeply stained and discolored,
- Teeth with large gaps between them.
How are Porcelain Veneers Applied?
During your initial consultation, molds will be taken of your teeth to aid in the custom fabrication of your porcelain veneers. Once these are ready, you can return to Prestige Dental Centers to have them placed by one of our expert doctors. This will begin by the removal of a very thin layer of your dental enamel to provide space for the veneer.
A strong dental cement will be applied to the surface of your tooth and the restoration mounted. A special light is placed over the fresh veneer to harden the cement, permanently locking the restoration in place. Your bite will be checked for comfort and fit and once you and the dentist are happy, you’ll be free to admire your new smile in the mirror!
Porcelain veneers are made from exceptionally durable materials, so you will be able to enjoy all your usual foods. Also take care to brush and floss regularly and thoroughly and return to our office for frequent check-ups and professional cleanings!
